Join in and create playfully with sand, rocks, shells, driftwood, seaweed and other beach treasures. During past events on Stinson Beach, we've stacked rock towers, made spirals from seaweed, planted a forest of driftwood "trees," and created dragons, fairies, and abstract designs. Those past events include my annual Earth Day Celebrations , and Sand Globe Workshops in which I teach the secret of making sand globes and encourage others to spread the joys of this art.

I'll include sand globe lessons as part of this play day. In five minutes I can teach the basic technique; it usually takes beginners about ten minutes to make a grapefruit-sized globe. This link shows photos and video from a past sand globe event.

My art-making with natural materials brings me a heightened and playful connection with nature that stimulates environmental action in my daily life. I'm hosting this event to share that process of connection, play, inspiration, and action with others.

Bring a picnic lunch. The play day will take place rain, shine, or fog.

Carpooling to the event is a great way to honor nature. If you want to give or get a ride, email me your details and I'll add you to the carpool group to make arrangements. Public transport from/to Marin City is one scenic hour on the West Marin Stage minibus.

For beach info and directions, visit the Stinson Beach website. Or, use the map with satellite view of the location. Park in the south parking lot at Stinson Beach and walk 100 yards south to our site. Sorry, dogs aren't allowed at this part of Stinson Beach.
