ART TO ACTION ON CODORNICES CREEK WITH
CHILDREN OF THE URSULA SHERMAN VILLAGE

Selected Feedback from Children, Parents, and Village Staff

Children:

My favorite part was our little castle.

I liked walking far up the creek.

You should keep coming so we can have fun and learn about the creek.

My favorite part was algae. At first I was scared because I didn't know what it was. I thought something was going to happen to me if I touched it. I like it because you can do fun things with it, like make a house with sticks.

My favorite thing was the algae tree. And the tepee. And when me and S crossed the creek on rocks. Since we went, I want to go back to the creek. We have fun when you come.

I liked the water sliders, the algae tree, and the algae forest. I never touched algae before. When I touched it, it was slimy and weird.

I felt happy at the creek. My favorite was me and S making a nest. I liked the tepee because I got to put on the decorations. There was no arguments on my teams because it was fun. I want to keep doing it. [Since our last trip to the creek, she "made a rock house with a little bit of sticks in the playground."]

Parent:

I thought it would be boring hanging out with kids, but it was fun.

Even if you did it every week, they wouldn't get bored.

Staff:

Compared with some other activities, it's easier for them to work together because there are no expectations about the outcome, and it's fun.

The kids like it...they learn about nature.

It's a unique opportunity for them. City kids don't have opportunities to get close to nature.
